- 10 Effective Ways to Advance Prayer with Kids
1. Grab life events in general to pray about as a family and as individuals! (deaths, sickness, school, sports, problems as they come up etc.)
2. Pray regularly at meals and bed time especially when your kids are very young!
3. Shoe prayers – Tell your kids that when they put on their shoes it should remind them they are prayer walking at school and where ever their feet take them.
4. Let your kids participate in adult prayer meetings!
5. Practice drive by prayers – Let each car trip turn into an opportunity to pray for someone you see or about something outside the car window.
6. Talk about current events from the news and how prayer can change things.
7. Take your kids along on hospital visits and let them pray over the sick.
8. Form family prayer partners … pair up family members, share prayer requests and pray for each other during the week. Switch partners monthly or weekly.
9. Leave short prayer messages on cell phone voice mails while your kids are in school … Just want you to know I’m praying for you today etc. Put verses or prayer messages inside coat pockets or sticky tack short prayer messages to bathroom mirrors.
10. Always pray first when someone in your family is sick … even a cold. Just speak a simple prayer out loud asking for God to make so and so well.
