EVENTS FOR 2008
EMBRACE THE HEARTLAND RELATED PRAYER EVENTS
September 22
On Monday September 22nd, Embrace the Heartland in Prayer will host a prayer event that the Body of Christ is invited and encouraged to come to for the Omaha and Douglas County elected officials in the Legislative Chambers in the downtown City-County Building at 19th and Farnam Streets. The prayer time will begin at 6 PM after the City Council meeting. We will pray for the Mayor and city executive officers, police, fire and correction departments, City Council and commissioners and the elected and appointed officials (County and City). We will also pray for the less privilege, peace and God's grace over our city. Pastors and leaders in our community will lead each prayer time.

21 Days of Prayer and Fasting
"Everything depends on prayer, yet we neglect it--not only to our spiritual hurt, but also to the delay and injury of our Lord's cause on the earth." - E.M. Bounds
Embrace the Heartland in Prayer Network is putting together a 21 day prayer and fasting guide for our upcoming local, state and national elections. The guide will be non-partisan and will include a prayer point, a scripture and short prayer for each day. It will begin Monday, Oct. 13th and end Sunday, Nov. 2. We will put the prayer guide on the website mid-September so that churches and individuals can make copies. We will also be send pastors a hard copy of the guide.
It is very important for the Body of Christ to pray because besides the Presidential election there are 35 Senate and 435 House of Representative seats that will be filled as a result of this election. It has been 80 years since there has not been a former or current president or vice president running for President. In addition there are many many state and local offices across the country that will be filled as a result of this election. God is looking for those that will stand in the gap and rebuild the wall that He might heal our land. (Ezek.22:30) May there be a large company of people in the Heartland whose voices are heard in heaven as they humble themselves and pray so that He might not pass us by. (Joel 2:12-14)

NATIONAL PRAYER EVENTS
September 5-7, 2008
National Days of Prayer and Remembrance - A Presidential Proclamation for Prayer
During National Days of Prayer and Remembrance, we pay special tribute to the thousands of innocent victims who died on September 11, 2001. Our Nation honors the brave citizens, service members, police officers, and firefighters who heroically responded in the face of terror. On these important days, we reflect on the terrible events of September 11, 2001, and lift the victims and their families in our prayers.
Our Nation will never forget the individuals who lost their lives in New York, Pennsylvania, and at the Pentagon. America saw that day – fearless rescuers who rushed toward danger, a beloved priest who died helping others, two office workers who carried a disabled person 68 floor to safety.
We also pray for the safety and success of the members of our Armed Forces now serving freedom’s cause. We seek God’s grace on their families, and commit to Heaven ’s care those brave men and women pray for His providence and continued blessings on our country. May He always guide the United States of America. As we defend our country against its enemies, we pray for help in protecting the gift of freedom from those who seek to destroy it, and we as the Almighty to strengthen all those who seek to destroy it, and we ask the Almighty to strengthen all those securing liberty on distant shores.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE W. BUSH, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim Friday September 5, through Sunday, September 7, 2008, as National Days of Prayer and Remembrance. I ask that the people of the United States and their places of worship mark these National Days of Prayer and Remembrance with memorial service, the ringing of bells, and evening candlelight remembrance vigils. I also invite all people across the world to share in these Days of Prayer and Remembrance.
In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand this twenty eighth day of August, in the year of our Lord two thousand eight and of the Independence of the United States of America the hundred and thirty-third.
